Race 8 – Sky Racing Brisbane Cup – This Group 1 main event will see a total of $107,500 in prize money on the line. This field is very tight, with only one of the ten dogs priced higher than $9 for the win. Fast Times will be the favourite after bouncing back nicely last start with a second place, his first feature finish in nearly two months. If he can build on that, he will be very strong here indeed. Jury had a very strong back half of October, scoring a second place, a nose off the win and then winning two straight runs. He ran fifth after that before a last start third place saw him return to his earlier good form. Cyn’s Magic is in great condition and form at present, scoring 4 wins in his last 5 starts, with the other being a second place. He won last out and is capable of winning here. Spring Time Girl is the form dog of the race, coming into this on the back of 5 straight wins, all at this track over this distance. Deserves respect.
Betting: Fast Times $2.80; Jury $3.40; Cyn’s Magic $5.50; Slick $6.00; Snug $6.50; Spring Time Girl $6.50; Off And On $7.50; Alpha Aion $9.00; Gelantipy Gold $9.00; Adhara Steel $41.00.
