Race 8 – Hygain Benchmark 70 Handicap – The final race of the day will have a $30,000 prize on offer. A total of five horses have been scratched from this race however it has served to help produce an even better race. Mandalay Bay is the short priced favourite here thanks to his two wins in his last three races. He ran sixth last start before being rested. He’ll be first up here after a near 6 month spell and is expected to be strong out of the gates and hard to catch. Northkape ran second in her last start, just barely missing out on the win. Has genuine claims here and is expected to do well. Our Sevira made her return last start with a solid second place after a 4 month spell. Deconi has been placing well but appears to be fading in form. The small field provides her with a place chance but may struggle to beat this field.
Betting: Mandalay Bay $1.80; Northkape $6.00; Deconi $6.50; Our Sevira $8.00; Mick’s Hustler $9.50; Nordic Empire $10.00; Unique Storm $14.00.
