Race 5 – Wordsmith Newmarket Handicap – This feature event will see a generous $100,000 in prize money up for grabs. I’m Wesley looks set to be the favourite here, having a vastly superior recent run of form compared to his rivals, winning four straight races, all by comfortable margins. He’s had 17 features, 9 of which were wins from his 25 career starts making him a top prospect here. O’lonh Star resumed last start with his third first up win from three starts. He’ll be second up in this and has won second up previously. Genuine top win chance here. He’s well suited to these shorter sprints and with the track in great condition, he could well prove to be a real handful. Definitely capable of the win. Geegees Doublejay is a classy ride and recently resumed after a 10 month spell, running second by a long nose first up and then coming fifth in his last outing. Has a marginally better third up record. He’s a regular to this track and over this distance. Right at home in this race. Gee Gee Red Prince has been up and down since resuming, running third first up, just over half a length from the winner before finishing last in his recent run, 6 lengths off the pace. Is a genuine threat here.
