The Group stage of the Champions League moves into its third round when Leicester City play hosts to FC Copenhagen on Wednesday morning.
Leicester: Schmeichel; Morgan, Hernandez, Fuchs, Huth; Drinkwater, Mahrez, Albrighton, Amartey; Slimani, Vardy.
FC Copenhagen: Olsen; Augustinsson, Johansson, Kvist, Verbic; Delaney, Cornelius, Santander, Ankersen; Jorgensen, Falk.
These two sides have never met previously, thus this will be the first ever clash against one another.
Leicester have made a good start to the Champions League, given their rather mixed form domestically. They won their opening clash against Club Brugge in a stunning 3-0 demolition. They then beat Porto in the second round 1-0. So far their Champions League wins have come on the back 3 goal losses in the Premier League. And their last game coming into this match was a 3-0 loss to Chelsea in the Premier League.
Copenhagen started their Champions League with a 1 all draw against Porto before following it up a thumping 4-0 hiding of Club Brugge in Round 2. Copenhagen have played 21 games already this season and have still yet to taste defeat, having won 13 games and drawn 8.
Slimani and Vardy v Olsen – Leicester’s strikers will need to bang in at least two goals if they are to have any hope of a win here. Given Copenhagen have kept 13 clean sheets already this year and have only conceded more than one goal in a match just once (courtesy of a 2 all draw last month domestically), achieving such a feat seems very tough indeed.
Leicester are favourites for the win here on home soil, but they need to turn up ready to play. This Copenhagen side has a very stingy defence and if Leicester don’t fire, they will lose.
