Liverpool were the best attacking side in the Premier League for near the entire season before some indifferent late season form saw them drop off slightly. They started off this season with their attack firing when they had a 3 all draw with Watford. Their defence was much when they beat Crystal Palace 1-0. They flogged fellow heavyweights Arsenal 4-0 before copping a 5-0 hiding from Manchester City. They then had a 1 all draw with Burnley before beating Leicester City 3-2. In Round 7 they were held to a 1 all draw with Newcastle. They then had a scoreless draw with Man Utd before a heavy 4-1 loss to Spurs. They’ve since beaten the Terriers 3-0, Hammers 4-1 and Southampton 3-0. After a 1 all draw with Chelsea, they beat Stoke 3-0 and Brighton 5-1. The Reds then had draws with Everton and West Brom before belting Bournemouth 4-0. After an entertaining 3 all draw with Arsenal, Liverpool then hammered lowly Swansea 5-0 and have since also beaten Leicester and Burnley, both by 2-1.
Manchester City have started this season in blistering form, sitting atop the table after 10 rounds, yet to lose a game. They won their opening League game against newly promoted side Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0. In the second round of the Premier League, Man City were surprisingly held to a 1 all draw with Everton. They survived a shock equaliser against Bournemouth to hit back with a goal and win 2-1 in Round 3. They’ve won every game since, starting with a 5-0 hiding of Liverpool, a 6-0 flogging of Watford and 5-0 thrashing of lowly Crystal Palace. They then beat defending champions Chelsea 1-0, belted Stoke 7-2 and then Burnley 3-0. They snuck home 3-2 against West Brom and then beat Arsenal 3-1 and Leicester City 2-0. They struggled against Huddersfield, Southampton and Hammers in the next three games, but won all of them by the same 2-1 scoreline. City then beat rivals Man United 2-1 before last weeks 4-0 hiding of Swansea. They then were in blistering form as they put away Spurs 4-1 and Bournemouth 4-0 before a dip produced a 1-0 win over the out of form Newcastle and then a scoreless draw with the lowly Palace. They hit back with comfortable wins over Watford 3-1 and Burnley 4-1.
Attack – The two most prolific attacking units in the League will square off here, ensuring an entertaining clash.
Hard to look past the undefeated Manchester City, however Liverpool are more than capable of winning, especially on home soil.
