The fourth round of the Premier League gets underway on Saturday with a big clash between powerhouse outfits Manchester City and Liverpool.
Manchester City: Ederson; Kompany, Stones, Otamendi; Walker, Fernandinho, Sane, De Bruyne, Silva; Aguero, Jesus.
Liverpool: Mignolet; Gomez, Lovren, Matip, Robertson; Henderson, Can, Wijnaldum; Firmino, Mane, Salah.
There have been 162 League games between these two sides with Liverpool holding a dominant lead, winning 80 games to Man City’s 41 wins. A further 41 games have been drawn. Their last clash produced a 1 all draw at the tail end of last season.
Manchester City started the season in blistering form, winning their opening League game against newly promoted side Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0. In the second round of the Premier League, Man City were surprisingly held to a 1 all draw with Everton. They survived a shock equaliser against Bournemouth to hit back with a goal and win 2-1 in their last game.
Liverpool were the best attacking side in the Premier League for near the entire season before some indifferent late season form saw them drop off slightly. They started off this season with their attack firing when they had a 3 all draw with Watford. Their defence was much when they beat Crystal Palace 1-0. Their last game saw them flog fellow heavyweights Arsenal 4-0.
Defensively – After Liverpool handed Arsenal a 4-0 drubbing, Man City has to shut down their attack to avoid suffering the same fate.
The odds a firmly in favour of the home side, but don’t be too hasty in writing off a red hot Liverpool who are every chance of winning this game.
