The final of the UEFA Champions League will take place this weekend at the immense Welsh Millennium Stadium between Juventus and Real Madrid.
Juventus: Buffron; Chiellini, Bonucci, Brazagli, Marchisio; Pjanic, Lobo Silva, Alves; Higuain, Mandzukic, Dybala.
Real Madrid: Navas; Varane, Ramos, Marcelo, Carvajal; Modric, Kroos, Casemiro; Asensio, Ronaldo, Vazquez.
There have been a total of 18 games in all competitions between these two sides, with honours perfectly shared. Both sides have recorded 8 wins apiece while there have been 2 draws, which have come in the last three clashes. They last met in May 2015 in the Champions League and resulted in a 1 all draw.
Juventus advanced to the finals after dominating their Group games, where they picked up 4 wins and a pair of draws in their 6 matches. They scored 11 goals and conceded just two. In the Round of 16 they beat Porto 2-0 and 1-0, advancing to a quarter final showdown with fellow European powerhouse side Barcelona. Juventus won the first leg emphatically 3-0 and happily settled for a scoreless draw in the return fixture. In the first leg of their semi-final against Monaco, Juventus won 2-0 before winning the second leg 2-1 to advance to the Final.
Real Madrid are the only semi-finalist not to top their Group. They had 3 wins and 3 draws to finish second behind Borussia Dortmund. They have been much more impressive in the knock out stage though. In the Round of 16 they beat Napoli 3-1 in both games. In the Quarter Final they faced Bayern Munich who they beat 2-1 and then 4-2 to advance to the Semi with Atletico Madrid. Real Madrid won the opening leg 3-0, before dropping the second 2-1, but did enough in the first game to qualify for the Final here.
Ronaldo v Dybala – The big names up front will be carrying the burden of outscoring each other against brilliant defensive outfits.
This game is as tight as they come. A neutral venue, very evenly matched attack and defensive units. Perhaps the brilliance of Ronaldo is all that separates the two sides.
