The final of the mens tennis draw at the US Open will take place on Monday with the top seed Rafael Nadal taking on 28th seed Kevin Anderson.

Top seed Nadal has dropped just 2 sets so far at Flushing Meadows this year. After a tough set in Round 1 against Lajovic, he strolled home in straight sets 7-6, 6-2, 6-2. He dropped the first set of his Round 2 clash with Taro Daniel before storming home 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2. In Round 3 the Spaniard again dropped the first set before cruising to a 6-7, 6-3, 6-1, 6-4 win against Leonardo Mayer. He then hammered former world number 13 Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-2, 6-4, 6-1 in the round of 16. In the quarter final he beat the young Russian Andrey Rublev 6-1, 6-2, 6-2. Nadal dropped the opening set of his semi final clash with Juan Martin del Potro before going on to win 4-6, 6-0, 6-3, 6-2.
South African Anderson strolled through his first three rounds without dropping a set. In Round 1 he beat JC Aragone 6-3, 6-3, 6-1. He then cruised through Gulbis in Round 2 by 6-3, 7-5, 6-4. In Round 3 he defeated Coric 6-4, 6-3, 6-2. He had a bigger challenge in the Round of 16 when he dropped a set to Paolo Lorenzi before winning 6-4, 6-3, 6-7, 6-4. He had his toughest opponent yet in the quarters when he came up against 17th seed Sam Querrey, but Anderson again proved too strong, despite dropping a set, winning 7-6, 6-7, 6-3, 7-6. Anderson then overcame Pablo Carreno Busta winning the first set in their semi final before fighting back to win 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4.
