The semi finals of the mens tennis draw at the US Open will take place on Saturday with Rafael Nadal the last of the top 10 seeds still competing.

Kevin Anderson [28] v Pablo Carreno Busta [12]

South African Anderson strolled through his first three rounds without dropping a set. In Round 1 he beat JC Aragone 6-3, 6-3, 6-1. He then cruised through Gulbis in Round 2 by 6-3, 7-5, 6-4. In Round 3 he defeated Coric 6-4, 6-3, 6-2. He had a bigger challenge in the Round of 16 when he dropped a set to Paolo Lorenzi before winning 6-4, 6-3, 6-7, 6-4. He had his toughest opponent yet in the quarters when he came up against 17th seed Sam Querrey, but Anderson again proved too strong, despite dropping a set, winning 7-6, 6-7, 6-3, 7-6.
Spaniard Carreno Busta has had a brilliant tournament so far and is yet to drop a set. In Round 1 he defeated Evan King 6-3, 6-2, 7-6. In Round 2 he beat Norrie 6-2, 6-4, 6-3 in 103 minutes. In Round 3 he faced former top 40 player Nicolas Mahut who failed to be strong enough competition for the white hot form of Carreno Busta, who won 6-3, 6-4, 6-3. In Round 4 he won again in straight sets, however each set went to a tie break against Shapovalov, 7-6, 7-6, 7-6. He then beat 29th seed Diego Schwartzman in the quarter final 6-4, 6-4, 6-2.

Rafael Nadal [1] v Juan Martin del Potro [24]

Top seed Nadal has dropped just 2 sets so far at Flushing Meadows this year. After a tough set in Round 1 against Lajovic, he strolled home in straight sets 7-6, 6-2, 6-2. He dropped the first set of his Round 2 clash with Taro Daniel before storming home 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2. In Round 3 the Spaniard again dropped the first set before cruising to a 6-7, 6-3, 6-1, 6-4 win against Leonardo Mayer. He then hammered former world number 13 Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-2, 6-4, 6-1 in the round of 16. In the quarter final he beat the young Russian Andrey Rublev 6-1, 6-2, 6-2.
The 24th seeded del Potro cruised through his opening three rounds before engaging in a 5 set battle over 3 and a half hours in the round of 16. He opened with a 6-4, 7-6, 7-6 win over Laaksonen. In Round 2 he cruised past Menendez-Maceiras 6-2, 6-3, 7-6. He then wiped the floor with world number 13 Roberto Bautista Agut 6-3, 6-3, 6-4. In Round 5 he came from 2 sets down against 6th seed Dominic Thiem to win a marathon 1-6, 2-6, 6-1, 7-6, 6-4. He then beat former World number 1 and third seed Roger Federer in the quarters 7-5, 3-6, 7-6, 6-4.
